At PAL, we believe that empowering children also means supporting the communities they grow up in. Our Community Development programs strengthen families, build life skills, and create safe, inspiring spaces where children and youth can thrive. From practical entrepreneurship for single mothers to mobile learning, mental health initiatives, and career skills workshops, we address the social, economic, and emotional needs of the whole community.
Through these initiatives, we help families become more resilient, young people gain practical skills, and communities develop opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom or playground. Programs include;
Behind every child at PAL is a mother working hard to provide, often with limited resources. Many of these women run small tabletop businesses, yet lack the training, mentorship, and capital to expand. The Mama Africa Single Mothers Entrepreneurship Project (MASMEP) was created to change that.
1. Business Development Classes – financial literacy, branding, sales strategies, and business expansion.
2. Hands-On Mentorship – guidance from experienced entrepreneurs who walk with them every step of the journey.
3. Networking Opportunities – access to business leaders and partners who can open doors.
4. Seed Funding & Growth Support – helping mothers take their businesses to the next level.
Our first cohort of mothers showed what is possible when women are given the right support. The winner of the program received ₵5,000 in business funding and secured a partnership with a major Made-in-Ghana brand. Today, she sells her locally made porridge at a high-traffic stall in Osu, growing her income, expanding her customer base, and even creating jobs for others in her community.
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Winston Churchill.
MASMEP is more than a business program. It is a pathway to independence and dignity for women who carry the weight of entire families. By equipping mothers with entrepreneurial skills and confidence, we are building:
Through MASMEP, we are proving that when you invest in mothers, you transform generations.
At PAL, we believe that nurturing the mind is just as important as nurturing the body. Our Mental Health Walk & Webinar is part of a collective effort to ensure that children, youth, parents, and volunteers in our communities are mentally sound, emotionally supported, and equipped to face life’s challenges with resilience.
Every year, on October 10th to mark World Mental Health Day. We bring our community together for a powerful day of awareness and solidarity. Through a guided walk, open discussions, and expert-led webinars, participants share their challenges, learn coping strategies, and discover tools for improving their mental well-being.
